The Song of Mary

Luke 1:26-55

Connect:

Enjoy some time catching up with each other over some food/snacks.  Consider having some music playing in the background, make people welcome and at home.

Praise:

Spend a few minutes sharing what God has done in your life this past week.

Prayer:

Pray that God would lead your discussion time and bring fresh insight, conviction, and hope through your time together.

Read:

Context: Work as group to put together a picture of what is happening in the story:

Mary is a young girl, likely a teenager

She is already promised to Joseph

No one will EVER believe her explanation, and the consequences could be severe

Read the passage out loud together.

Reflect:

Share about a time where you were ready to believe, but just needed some help understanding, “But God, how is this actually going to work?!?”? (Luke 1:30-37)

“Mary’s “How?” surrendered to a Who.”

Share about a memory of God’s faithfulness which is giving you hope for your future (Luke 1:46-55)

“He has done Great things… I will praise Him Greatly”

Discuss the phrase, “You can’t have a song of celebration until you have a heart of surrender.” (Luke 1:38)

Respond:

Get into groups of 2-3.  If there was one thing you would pray, “Let it be born in me”, something only God can do in you, what would that be?

Share it as a prayer request and pray for each other.
