Your Move: Go

Matthew 28:18-20 and other Scriptures

Connect:

  • Share how you have seen God in the Highs and Lows of your week.

  • Discuss how resolutions made last week in “growing more like Jesus” worked themselves out – what God did in and through you (Phil. 2:13) Celebrate and thank God for those together and pray with those who experienced some “Lows” this week, for God’s encouragement for them.

Prayer:

Pray that God would lead your discussion time and bring fresh insight, conviction, and hope through your time together.

Review:

We are launching into a new series looking at 6 aspects of a growing faith and a strong church! The last few weeks we have looked at Grace, Growth, Groups, Gifts, Generosity… and now the finale: GO!

The Grand Tour of the message: Thinking back on what you heard this Sunday…

o What did you learn about God?

o What did you learn about people?

o What did you learn about yourself?

o What do you want to commit to putting into practice?

Reflect:

The point of this message was “Go!” Share about a time that God opened an opportunity in conversation with a friend, coworker or family member to share about the hope you have in Jesus. How did they respond?

Discuss the following Scriptures and read the verses in context:

  • What are some ways you have found that help you to be intentional about building redemptive relationships with not-yet believers? (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, John 20:21-22)

  • Read about some of the barriers disciples faced in these Scriptures— how are barriers we face the same/ different? ( Matthew 9:9-13, John 6:35-44, John 20:24-29,)

  • Some people are harder to “run into'“ in the course of life than others, so part of “go” is to “go out and find them! Where would we go to find people like these: (Leviticus 19:33-34, Mark 5:24-34, John 4:6-42, John 8:1-11,)

  • What can we apply from how these people handled opposition to the Gospel in ways that honor God: ( Matthew 22:23 -33, 1 Peter 3:14-17, Luke 12:11-12,)

  • What have you found helpful in either calming your fears or obeying anyway and trusting God with your fears? (Acts 4:7-20, Luke 19:1-10, Luke 24:45-49,)

  • Discuss the character qualities that come out when we choose to listen: (Mark 1:29-31, Proverbs 18:13 and 19:20-21,)

  • How can we discern the way in which God wants us to respond to the needs? ( Mark 8:22-26, Acts 10:9-23 and 16:6-10)

Respond:

Believers are increasingly conflicted about sharing their faith, preferring to hope that unbelievers will make the connection themselves between “Joe bought me a cup of coffee this morning; I think Jesus died for my sins and I need to believe in Him if I want to go to Heaven.” Unfortunately, that’s not what actually happens. Lets spend some time praying that God would open our eyes to people’s need for Him and give us boldness to share! (Hey, if you’d like to learn more about that, come to our Evangelism class Sunday, Feb 26! Register HERE)
