Review:
Relationships shape every part of our lives — at home, at work, in dating, in marriage, and across generations. But without intentionality, even the most important relationships can drift from God’s design. Relationship Reset is a practical and biblical journey toward realignment — learning how to build healthier marriages, wiser dating lives, stronger families, better workplace connections, and more redemptive conflict. From motherhood and fatherhood to screens and singleness, this series challenges us to stop drifting and start building. Because when our relationships align with God’s design, they don’t just function — they flourish. This week, we looked at the critical role of fathers and the ripple effect they have across generations…
The Grand Tour of the message: Thinking back on what you heard this Sunday…
o What did you learn about God?
o What did you learn about people?
o What did you learn about yourself?
o What do you want to commit to putting into practice?
Reflection:
Personal Experience & Discussion:
Share a memory from either being a father or having a father that captures something of what “fatherhood” meant to you. What was the memory, and how did it shape your understanding of what it means to be a father?
Reflective Discussion (Remember to look at the context of the verses as you are reading! Look for key terms and help the group unpack and define them):
Pastor Scott talked about a father “pointing” their family in a certain direction. DISCUSS: How do these passages help us see the way fathers, who are also fallen human beings, “point” their families toward godly priorities and habits? (Deut 6:1-3 and v7-9, Josh 24:15, Ps 78:4-7, Prov 22:6, 1 Cor 11:1, Eph 6:4, Col 3:21, Heb 12:1-2)
Every family has some sort of routine of some kind, a ‘normal’ way of getting through a day, relating to each other, etc. Those patterns deeply shape our identity and future. DISCUSS:: What are some helpful regular ‘rhythms’ in which a father can lead to strengthen a home (Deut 6:7, Ps 1:1-3, Ps 92:1-2, Mark 1:35, Acts 2:42-47, Gal 6:1-4, v9-10, Heb 10:24-25)
Sometimes when life gets busy, we get tempted to “outsource” responsibilities as parents. DISCUSS: What does it require of a parent/leader if they are to truly disciple their children/ others in the knowledge and reverence of the Lord? (Phil 1:9-11, 1 Tim 3:1-13, Titus 2:2, v6-8, 1 Cor 16:13,14)
We all leave something behind, so the choice to be intentional about our legacy matters a lot! DISCUSS: How do the following passages help us choose to leave footprints worth following? (Ps 90:12, Phil 2:14,15, 2 Tim 4:7-8, Heb 12:1-3)
Application:
We all leave footprints; are our footprints worth following? What is one specific change that you would need to make this week that would make your footprints this week worth following?
Prayer:
God’s Holy Spirit lives in us, transforms us and gives us the ability and the desire to follow hard after our Savior, Jesus Christ! Spend some time thanking God for a life that can be lived in a manner worthy of the calling we have received as children of God, and commit to doing that this week!
