Review:

Relationships shape every part of our lives — at home, at work, in dating, in marriage, and across generations. But without intentionality, even the most important relationships can drift from God’s design. Relationship Reset is a practical and biblical journey toward realignment — learning how to build healthier marriages, wiser dating lives, stronger families, better workplace connections, and more redemptive conflict. From motherhood and fatherhood to screens and singleness, this series challenges us to stop drifting and start building. Because when our relationships align with God’s design, they don’t just function — they flourish. This week, we looked at marriage as a place where God’s glory in our relationships can shine…

The Grand Tour of the message: Thinking back on what you heard this Sunday…

o What did you learn about God?

o What did you learn about people?

o What did you learn about yourself?

o What do you want to commit to putting into practice?

Reflection:

Personal Experience & Discussion:

  • Share about one or two of the Christian couples you know whose relationships show the characteristics of God-honoring love— patience, kindness, forgiveness, etc. DISCUSS: What can we learn about God from looking at their marriage to each other?

  • Reflective Discussion (Remember to look at the context of the verses as you are reading!):

    • One thing that is certain in all relationships is that eventually they will start to break down if we don’t keep them healthy!‍ ‍DISCUSS: What does it take to stay “un stuck” (free to move forward in forgiveness, rebuilding trust) in our relationships with each other (Jam 1:19-20, Prv 15:1, Prov 19:11, Eph 4:26-27, Col 3:13, Ps 34:12-14)

    • We tell ourselves stories about how the world works, and those stories can have ourselves at the center or they can have God at the center. If we are at the center, we are the ones who ultimately set the rules; if God is at the center, sovereignty is His role, not ours.‍ ‍DISCUSS: How can we tell the discern who is really the Lord or our story? (Col 1:16-17 , Matt 6:31-34, Prov 3:5,6, Gal 2:20, Rom 11:33-36)

    • “Forgiveness is free, trust is earned”…. but forgiveness still takes work! DISCUSS: How do the following passages help us t o understand what it would look like to “pursue peace” while not keeping a “record of wrongs”? (1 Cor 13:4-7, Eph 4:29-32, Col 3:12-17)

    • The kind of love that the Scriptures talk about is truly supernatural. DISCUSS: How do the following passages help us to understand how we are able to live, expressing this kind of love to each other? (John 13:34-35, Gal 5:22-23, Rom 5:5, 1 Thes 3:12,13, Phil 1:9-11)

    • There are hidden threats to the mission of glorifying God through the character of our marriage relationships; selfishness, addictions, secret affairs, fiery tongues, contempt, abuse, avoidance… a lot can go wrong here! DISCUSS: How do the following passages help us to identify covenant boundaries for a godly marriage? (Jam 3:5-10, 1 Cor 6:18-20, 1 Thes 4:3-8)

Application:

Our marriages can shine to the glory of God, and when that happens, they stand out as a testament to the life of Christ in His people! What are some areas where we have allowed compromises into the “normal” of our marriage that are taking away from the life of God in and through our marriage? Commit to seeking the Lord together about that this week.

Prayer:

Spend some time thanking God for the gift of marriage as a platform for His glory to shine out! Pray together for the Lord’s protection and strength in the marriages around us, and that our marriage will increasingly bring glory to Him.
