Review:

Relationships shape every part of our lives — at home, at work, in dating, in marriage, and across generations. But without intentionality, even the most important relationships can drift from God’s design. Relationship Reset is a practical and biblical journey toward realignment — learning how to build healthier marriages, wiser dating lives, stronger families, better workplace connections, and more redemptive conflict. From motherhood and fatherhood to screens and singleness, this series challenges us to stop drifting and start building. Because when our relationships align with God’s design, they don’t just function — they flourish. This week, we looked at relationships at work…

The Grand Tour of the message: Thinking back on what you heard this Sunday…

o What did you learn about God?

o What did you learn about people?

o What did you learn about yourself?

o What do you want to commit to putting into practice?

Reflection:

Personal Experience & Discussion:

  • Share about the first paid job you had growing up— describe the job and the work culture? How did people work together (or not)? What would you do differently if you could go back and relive that?

  • Reflective Discussion (Remember to look at the context of the verses as you are reading!):

    • Discuss: What are some qualities of a God-honoring work culture? How have you seen the Lord grow you personally in those areas?

    • Read John 13:3-17. Discuss the following:

      • V3-5: This is an unbelievable contrast, and that was clearly the writer’s intention here. Discuss: Why did the author make this point so paint to the readers? (In case you get stuck, responses might be: e.g., Hold attention of confused readers, honor Jesus in this moment… what do you think?)

      • V 6-9: If you were Peter in that moment, would you have reacted in a similar way? Discuss: What did Jesus mean here, “Unless I wash you, you will have no part of Me”? (e.g. submission to His lordship, reference to atonement, … what do you think?)

      • V 12-17: Jesus is making His point clear. Discuss: What are some reasons why we don’t naturally “do as [He] has done for us” in our relationships with others? How might Jesus respond to those reasons not to follow His example?

    • How do the following verses help us to view our professional work life as a mission field? (Matt 5:16, 1 Pet 2:12, Col 3:23,24, Eph 6:5-9, Titus 2:9-10, 1 Cor 10:31, Phil 2:14-15)

    • Read Romans 12:17-21, Rom 14:9, Heb 12:14, Jam 3:17-18: Discuss

      • V18: What do you think Paul means by “as far as it depends on you”— Is it possible to be at peace with someone who is not willing to pursue peace?

      • V19-21: What does this mean that if we are kind to an enemy we “will heap burning coals on his head”— how would this “good” overcome evil? (e.g. being kind to an enemy can make them aware of your humanity and theirs, powerfully triggering their conscience to recognize that aggression only leads to more aggression.)

Application:

Our work places can be a mission field if we are ready to act and react, speak and lead as Jesus would. What are some specific work place relationships that need this kind of attention this week? Commit to doing that and pray for the Lord’s guidance and strength of spirit.

Prayer:

Spend some time thanking God for the gift of time to be ambassadors for His Kingdom in the world around us. Pray for His Spirit to equip us in every way to fulfill His mission in and through our work life as we acknowledge Him.
