Review:

In a world constantly telling us we need more—more success, more knowledge, more spirituality, more control—the book of Colossians points us back to one unshakable truth: Jesus is enough. Paul writes to followers of Jesus who were being tempted to add other things to Jesus, but he reminds them that everything they truly need is already found in him. From our identity and transformation to our relationships, purpose, and mission, Jesus is not merely part of life—he is the center of it all. This series will explore how a bigger vision of Jesus changes everything.

  • Discuss: Have you ever ben in a situation where you knew you needed to say something to a person, something they needed to hear, but you decided their reaction would defeat the purpose of saying anything? Talk about that— why are we so often trapped in the angst of the moment, only to relive it the next ro

  • Reflective Discussion (Remember to look at the context of the verses as you are reading! Look for key terms and help the group unpack and define them):

    • Read Col 4:2-6 together

    • Pastor Scott made the point this weekend that our witness begins with our prayer life. How so?‍ ‍DISCUSS: Review the following passages to unpack the impact of prayer on our witness, especially where that witness involves challenges. (Col 4:2, Luke 18:1, Eph 6:18-20, Acts 1:14, Jam 5:16).

    • The call to “thank God in every season” is so often misunderstood to say we should be ‘enjoying’ the trial… which is not the point. The idea is to consciously direct our attention to God because He is with us IN the storm. Still, it’s REALLY tough to have an attitude of gratitude in the storm.. DISCUSS: How do the following passages help us to see God’s hand in the storm? (Col 4:2-4, Acts 27:33-36, Phil 1:12-14, Phil 4:6-7, 2 Cor 12:7-10, Rev 3:8).

    • Jesus had the reputation of being One Who was “…full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) DISCUSS: How do the following passages unpack what that looks like, and what would be needed to actually live that out? (Col 4:6, 2 Tim 2:24-25, Matt 5:13, James 1:19, Luke 4:22, Prov 15:1)

Application:

Pray that the Lord would point out a person in your life who is an “outsider” to faith and new life in Jesus. How might you be “full f grace and truth” in your relationship with them this week?

Prayer:

Spend some time closing in prayer together thanking God for the power of the Holy Spirit in us to live out the wisdom, grace, truth and love of the Gospel.
