Prayer:
Pray that God would lead your discussion time and bring fresh insight, conviction, and hope through your time together.
Review:
This message series looks at six essential moves found in Scripture — moves that lead to a flourishing life. There’s a reason why some people experience joy, purpose, and spiritual momentum…while others feel stuck, confused, and disconnected. At ZCC, we call these our “6Gs” which are Grace, Growth, Group, Gifts, Generosity, Go. This week, we looked at the command to “Go” and share our faith…
The Grand Tour of the message: Thinking back on what you heard this Sunday…
o What did you learn about God?
o What did you learn about people?
o What did you learn about yourself?
o What do you want to commit to putting into practice?
Reflection:
Personal Experience:
We have all had that moment where it was clear that God opened the door to share the hope of Jesus with someone… sometimes we speak, and sometimes we freeze. Talk about what keeps our foot on the “brake” in those moments, and why those things have so much power over us in that moment.
Reflective Discussion (Remember to look at the context of the verses as you are reading!):
Think of people you know who are struggling with anxiety, depression, unforgiveness… What difference would it make to them if someone shared Jesus with them?
Read the following passages and discuss:
Matt 28:18-20: What difference does it make to our going that Jesus has “all authority”?
Acts 1:4-9: What does it mean that the Holy Spirit gives us power to be His witnesses?
Read Luke 22:54-62, and then read Acts 4:1-13: Identify at least 5 differences you see in Peter as the Holy Spirit filled him as a witness.
Take a few minutes individually and write out a 3 point testimony you can share. Invite someone in your group to share their testimony in 3 mins (or less):
This is who I was
This is how I came to know Jesus
This is how my life is different
Read Romans 10:13-14 and discuss:
Why does our culture prefer that we keep our faith private?
Read the following passages and for each passage identify how it helps us take our foot off the brakes and speak (Ps 40:10; Prov 29:25; Matt 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:9; Mark 8:38; Rom 1:16; Eph 6:19; 2 Tim 1:7)
If believing starts with hearing, and hearing starts with someone speaking… but we never speak… who bears the consequences of that decision? (Ez 3:18-21, Rom 10:14-15, John 1:9-13, John 21:15-17, Eph 6:18-20).
Read 1 Cor 3:6-8 and discuss who is responsible for what in this effort to see the seed of the Gospel bear fruit in discipleship?
Application:
Make a decision now that the next time God opens a door of opportunity, you will speak, even if it is as simple as “Can I ask you something; do you know Jesus?”
Prayer:
Spend some time in prayer offering ourself to the Lord for His purposes through you, knowing that God’s purposes for you extend far, far beyond what you experience or what you can see!
